Health Crisis in Marib Camps
The Yemeni authorities in Marib Governorate have declared a state of health emergency to combat the spread of measles after recording 12 deaths and approximately 1,624 cases, of which 290 are laboratory-confirmed. Most of the cases are among internally displaced persons in camps lacking basic services. This comes amid a fragile health situation and declining humanitarian funding, which threatens a wide outbreak of the disease, especially among children. The authorities have called for a large-scale vaccination campaign and the provision of vaccines and medicines, along with intensified health awareness efforts, to prevent the worsening of the health crisis and the spread of infection to other areas.
