Europe allocates 1.4B euros for Ukraine from Russian assets
The European Union announced that the interest generated from the frozen Russian assets held by the Central Bank of Russia has earned a total of 1.4 billion euros (approximately 1.6 billion dollars) so far, and these funds have been allocated to support Ukraine. The European Commission relies on the profits and expected interest from these assets rather than confiscating their original value, aiming to have Moscow contribute to the costs of the destruction caused by the war, while the assets remain frozen in accordance with the sanctions imposed on Russia.
