Oman and Iran Deal in View
The current negotiations between Iran and Oman reveal the possibility of reaching an agreement regarding the Strait of Hormuz within a week. Estimates suggest a 50/50 chance of success by Friday. A Gulf official confirmed that the negotiations are focused on settling the issue of navigation through the strait, with the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps excluded from the negotiating team. While Iran insists there is no direct communication with Washington, American statements indicate that an agreement may be imminent. There are concerns that any understanding could revive negotiations between Washington and Tehran over the Strait of Hormuz.
