Washington ends Iran sanctions
The U.S. Department of the Treasury announced the lifting of sanctions related to counter-terrorism that were previously imposed on two aircraft and three airlines linked to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard. This move follows sanctions imposed on support networks for Mahan Air, which is connected to the transfer of personnel from the Revolutionary Guard, weapons, and drones; these networks include entities and individuals from China, India, Russia, and Iran. This development comes amid a potential escalation of the crisis between Iran and the United States, especially after a drone strike targeted gas tankers in the Egyptian port of Damietta, posing a threat to navigation through the Suez Canal and further increasing regional tensions.
