Rome 2 Lebanon-Israel Talks Stall
The article discussed ongoing negotiations between Lebanon and Israel in Rome, under American auspices, aimed at achieving Israeli withdrawals from southern Lebanon and expanding the designated zones. On the second day, Israel issued a warning to evacuate the Monsayyir town before potentially launching attacks on Hezbollah. The two sides did not reach an agreement regarding the second designated zones or the mechanisms for verifying withdrawals and disarming non-legitimate weapons. However, recognition of the Lebanese borders by Israel was praised. The military meeting addressed the expansion of the designated zones, while the political session focused on verification procedures and prisoners, amid Lebanon’s readiness to raise the issue of prisoners in the negotiations.
