China criticizes Japan's defense white paper
China strongly condemned the new version of the Japanese White Paper on Defense Policy, which accused China of being the biggest strategic threat to Japan and called for enhancing Japan's military capabilities. The spokesperson for China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed that China follows a peaceful defense policy and that its military activities are legitimate, emphasizing that Taiwan and the Diaoyu Islands are an inseparable part of Chinese territory, and that Japan's involvement in these matters is a violation of Chinese sovereignty. The statement also criticized Japan's efforts to develop long-range offensive capabilities and to accelerate armament, calling on the international community to oppose such actions and urging Japan to learn lessons from history and to stop pursuing excessive militarization.
