The news concerns Iran's detention of the cargo ship "MSC Franceska," which was passing through the Strait of Hormuz on April 22nd. Since then, around 24 sailors have remained on board in a difficult situation, with limited communication with the outside world and fears of indefinite detention. This comes in the context of escalating tensions between Iran, the United States, and Israel following attacks on ships in the region, and a significant decrease in maritime traffic through the strait. The number of ships has dropped from about 130 vessels daily before the crisis to roughly 12 ships currently. MSC is the world's largest shipping company, and its detention poses a serious threat to international trade, especially oil supplies, amid rising geopolitical tensions that have led to multiple targeted attacks and clashes in the area. Diplomatic efforts are underway to secure the release of the vessel and its crew, but the future remains uncertain. Meanwhile, the sailors are suffering from difficult humanitarian conditions.
