The article calls for deep reform within the governance of the International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA) following the crisis sparked by its president's plan to sell shares of World Cup revenues, which faced widespread opposition. Reports confirm that the crisis exposes structural flaws in FIFA’s management, including overlaps between organizational and oversight roles. It emphasizes the necessity of separating the tasks of tournament organization and rule-setting, as well as establishing an independent regulatory body to enhance transparency and integrity. The proposals advocate for reducing the president's powers, increasing the role of FIFA's council, and involving diverse stakeholders in decision-making, all aimed at restoring public trust and achieving a balance between commercial interests and organizational principles. These reforms are deemed essential to address the declining confidence and to promote a more balanced management of global football.
