A report has revealed that UEFA (the Union of European Football Associations) continues to pressure FIFA President Gianni Infantino following the cancellation of a project to sell a share of World Cup revenues worth $4.2 billion, due to widespread protests from European associations. UEFA aims to conduct an independent assessment of FIFA’s assets, which are estimated at around $20 billion, to verify whether they have been sold at undervalued prices without transparent valuation procedures or open discussions. The European Union is also calling for a comprehensive review of FIFA’s governance mechanisms, with the possibility of resorting to legal action, despite internal backing for Infantino amid the criticism directed at him.
