The trade and consumption of drugs in Khartoum are rapidly increasing, with drug promotion networks spreading across streets, cafes, and educational areas, despite efforts by authorities to curb these activities. Multiple types of drugs are being used, including cannabis, hashish, and synthetic substances such as methamphetamine, known as "Ice" or "Shabu," which cause serious health and psychological damage and lead to physical and mental dependence. Field operations have revealed that sales sometimes occur openly amid clouded smoke from hashish, with trafficking networks collaborating with elements within the system. Demand has risen following the war and the worsening security conditions. This phenomenon represents a major challenge, requiring the dismantling of trafficking networks, expanding treatment centers, and raising awareness. Reports also indicate an increase in addiction among women and among individuals aged 25 to 30, with cases of crimes committed to obtain money for drugs.
