The talks that took place in Rome between Lebanon and Israel under American sponsorship, which recently concluded, raised the possibility of an imminent agreement on the withdrawal of Israeli forces from southern Lebanon and the transfer of control over the areas to the Lebanese Army. The technical negotiations lasted for three days, and officials confirmed that the two sides are now closer to taking steps to strengthen and expand the security zone, despite ongoing field tensions with renewed Israeli airstrikes on southern Lebanon and Hezbollah's accusations of violating the fragile ceasefire. The potential agreement includes a withdrawal of Israeli forces from the south, but tensions remain high amid ongoing military escalation.
