South Lebanon hit by Israeli airstrikes
An Israeli escalation in southern Lebanon coincides with direct negotiations between Lebanon and Israel in Rome under American sponsorship. Israel carried out a series of airstrikes and artillery shelling on two towns in the region, resulting in the death of one person and injuries to 12 others. The Israeli army announced the death of two soldiers, marking its first casualties in over a month amid ongoing escalation against Hezbollah. The strikes targeted areas where Lebanese forces and homes are located. This comes at a time when Lebanon is seeking Israeli withdrawals from the south in accordance with a framework agreement signed in June, despite Hezbollah's rejection and the military escalation from both sides.
