The Syrian authorities in Lebanon handed over Major Adel Issa, a former officer in the regime's forces and accused of murder and torture up until 2016, based on an arrest warrant issued in absentia by the Lebanese judiciary. This step was taken following coordination between the authorities regarding a request from the Syrian Public Prosecutor. The charges include premeditated murder, torture resulting in death, and crimes that provoke civil war and sectarian violence. This marks the first such surrender since the fall of Bashar al-Assad's regime in December 2024.
