Israel carried out an airstrike on Abu al-Zuhur Military Airport in northwestern Syria, using eight bombs that targeted the airport's runways and facilities, resulting in the destruction of recently rebuilt infrastructure, with no injuries reported. Israel confirmed that the strike aimed to counter Turkey's attempt to deploy forces at the base, claiming that Syria had ignored Israeli warnings about this. Turkey responded by dismissing the Israeli claims as trivial and aimed at justifying the airstrikes, while a Turkish official denied any Turkish military presence at the facility. Additionally, the American ambassador clarified that Israel carried out the attack, and the Trump administration expressed concern over the escalation, which is also believed to be partly linked to the upcoming Israeli elections in October. Washington is reportedly seeking to de-escalate the situation through diplomatic channels among the involved parties.
