The Qarara Seed Bank Project in Gaza aims to revitalize the agricultural sector damaged by the war between Israel and Hamas that erupted in October 2023. The bank helps preserve local and indigenous seeds known for being highly adaptable to the local environment, with an annual success rate of 80 to 90 percent. This supports the sustainability of agricultural production amid resource shortages such as water and fertilizers, following the destruction of many seed varieties. The project highlights the importance of preserving Palestinian agricultural heritage and provides a seed lending system to assist farmers in continuing production. It serves as a food security safeguard and a platform for maintaining agricultural diversity in Gaza's future.
