The article discusses the secret operational activities carried out by U.S. forces in the Strait of Hormuz to prevent a spike in oil prices. The operation involves protecting oil tankers through the southern part of the strait along Oman’s coast, utilizing warships and aircraft to intercept Iranian drones and missile attacks. These operations began in May with the aim of allowing the transit of approximately 4-5 million barrels of oil per day, despite Iranian attacks on ships that have resulted in the death of two sailors and injuries to others, as well as other assaults on vessels near Oman. The operation is resource-intensive, given the ongoing Iranian threat. Gulf countries are attempting to reduce their reliance on the strait by developing new pipeline routes. Despite the attacks, U.S. measures have enabled a higher number of ships to pass compared to the beginning of the conflict, though maritime traffic remains below pre-conflict levels. These efforts aim to prevent Iran from expanding its influence over critical global oil transportation routes.
