The Democratic Opposition Institution in Mauritania rejects amending the constitution to allow President Mohamed Ould Cheikh Ghazouani to run for a third term, considering that such a move threatens political stability and violates the principle of peaceful transfer of power. Meanwhile, allied parties call for continuing the president’s approach and strengthening his achievements. These developments come amid demands initiated by the ruling El-Infas Party, which organized a march and a political rally to support the amendment, despite opposition rejection. The opposition affirms that respecting the constitution is essential to ensuring stability and trust in institutions.
