A Romanian F-16 fighter jet destroyed a drone near a gas project in the Black Sea, accusing it of being loaded with explosives. The incident occurred 80 nautical miles east of Constanța. This event comes amidst escalating tensions in the region, with the defense minister noting that the drone was just a few hundred meters from the "Neptun Deep" platform, which is scheduled to begin production in 2027. Several drone incursions have been detected in the area in recent months, with Russia implicated in escalating tensions. The Romanian president stated that the situation poses a threat to lives, and the European Commission President called for stronger EU defense efforts to counter such provocations. Additionally, a drone fell in Romania as a result of Russian strikes on Ukraine, with no casualties reported.
