The article addresses the circulating claim that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy used green screen (chromakey) technology to appear on the front lines alongside troops in the Zaporizhzhia region. The purpose of this was purportedly to fake his presence in a widely shared video on social media. Technical investigations revealed no clear evidence of video tampering using chroma key; the movement of vehicles in the background appears natural and suggests the scene may have been edited through quick cuts in post-production rather than using advanced digital techniques. Additionally, previous photos and footage of Zelenskyy from the same location support the possibility that the footage was genuinely shot in the field, and that the idea of using hologram technology or a green screen in that area was not new. Nonetheless, this claim raises doubts about the possible use of advanced techniques to create misleading impressions of the president’s physical presence in the field, while investigations have found no definitive evidence of digital fabrication in the circulated video.
