German security authorities in Bavaria have confirmed that an attack took place against two companies in the defense and security industries. It is suspected to have a political background. A Bulgarian man and woman were arrested after incendiary devices were found near the headquarters. This incident follows potential acts of sabotage at two power stations and an attempted drone attack on Leipzig Airport, reflecting rising tensions and attacks on infrastructure in Germany, amid increasing fears of Russian threats linked to the war in Ukraine. A recent poll showed that 56% of Germans see Russia as a significant threat to the country's security. Germany plans to allocate an additional 250 million euros to rebuild Ukraine's energy infrastructure in response to Russian attacks. In response to Moscow’s closure of the Goethe Institute in Russia, Russia announced it would shut down all branches of the Goethe Institute across the country, retaliating against Berlin’s decision to close the Russian House in Berlin—steps that are increasing tensions between the two nations.
