The Chinese Ministry of Commerce stated that trade talks with the European Union should be based on dialogue and mutual consultation, not on unilateral demands or threats to close markets. The ministry emphasized the importance of addressing both sides' concerns fairly and balanced, maintaining ongoing communication since the June Trade and Investment Consultation Agreement, and rejecting any imposition of conditions unilaterally. These statements come in response to warnings from the European Commission about the potential use of trade protection tools if negotiations fail, with Chinese and European leaders reaffirming the need for dialogue to resolve disagreements.
