Houthi Rise Triggers Families to Flee
The Houthi militia launched a military escalation in Taiz and Hodeidah, resulting in the displacement of dozens of families from their homes due to repeated shelling in residential areas. In Hodeidah, the shelling forced 57 families, approximately 400 people, to flee from villages in the Hays district, seeking safer areas, while their possessions and livelihoods were destroyed. An urgent appeal has been issued to provide shelter, food, and water, along with a humanitarian needs assessment. In Taiz, intense fighting between government forces and the Houthis, especially in the western part of the city, has led to the displacement of many families from conflict zones, amid a lack of relief services. There is concern about additional waves of displacement if the escalation continues.
