The Israeli ambassador to France, Joshua Zarka, is seeking to support the Lebanese Army to ensure Israel's withdrawal from southern Lebanon after guaranteeing that Hezbollah will not return, according to his statements on Thursday. He affirmed that strengthening the Lebanese armed forces is essential to achieving this goal, emphasizing that international support and the actual access of the army are key factors, and that mere statements are not enough. This comes amidst a Lebanese plan to hold an international conference in September to support the army, following a wide-scale war launched by Israel against Lebanon in 2023, which resulted in over 4,000 deaths, the displacement of more than a million people, and the postponement of the military support conference due to recent escalation.
