This article discusses the destruction of the Ukrainian city of Mariupol during the Russian war, focusing on the devastation of homes and damage to infrastructure caused by attacks and conflicts in 2022. The report highlights how the conflict destroyed many buildings, resulted in the deaths and injuries of many residents, and caused survivors to suffer from losing their homes, with calls directed at Russia for compensation or reconstruction. It also covers the emergence of new housing projects financed by Russia, offering affordable mortgage loans with low interest rates, despite the poor quality of the homes and their high prices. Property values have increased by about a third over the course of a year, as former residents and opponents of the occupation try to adapt to this new reality. Data indicates that 90% of the buildings have been destroyed, and the city is now witnessing the construction of new residential towers and changes in its demographic makeup. Living conditions have worsened, and residents suffer from a lack of genuine compensation, whether those who left or are forced to remain.
