U.S. President Donald Trump proposed changing the name of the Strait of Hormuz to "Trump Strait" after announcing U.S. control over the strait, which sparked widespread controversy. Although Trump indicated that the idea was casual and not serious, it provoked opposing reactions, especially since the strait is considered a point of dispute between Washington and Tehran, and no country holds direct ownership over it. It is worth mentioning that Trump had previously suggested renaming other geographical locations, such as the Gulf of Mexico and Lake Ontario, reflecting a phenomenon of "narcissistic geography" where personal names are associated with locations.
