Iran Guard Navy Confronts Violators Daily
The Deputy Commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard's Navy stated that his forces face violations by ships in the Strait of Hormuz on a daily basis, with punishments meted out to between two and five violating ships each night. He confirmed that the Iranian Navy has the capability to control the strait and exercise decisive will, responding to recent American attacks as a reaction to Washington's seizure of the strait and what is purportedly U.S. control over navigation there. He also pointed out that direct American intervention raises questions about the credibility of American claims regarding control of the strait, and emphasized that Iran insists on its right to defend its sovereignty and vital oil passages.
