Arab nations oppose Ben Gvir's Gaza plans

Eight Arab and Islamic countries, including Turkey, categorically rejected Israeli plans to forcefully displace Palestinians from the Gaza Strip. They emphasized that such plans constitute a blatant violation of international law and threaten the rights of the Palestinian people. The countries considered any attempt to displace Palestinians, whether inside or outside the occupation, as a threat to the territorial integrity of the Gaza Strip. They called on the international community to confront these schemes and pressure Israel to halt them. These positions come in response to Israeli Defense Minister Itamar Ben Gvir’s announcement of a plan aimed at moving approximately 1.86 million Palestinians from Gaza within seven years. The plan involves establishing a dedicated ministry to execute it, along with providing transportation, housing, and vocational training assistance. The estimated cost of the displacement plan is around $3.1 billion, with a funding framework reaching approximately $15.6 billion, contingent upon international participation. This announcement has been met with widespread Arab and international rejection, along with warnings that these plans constitute a crime against humanity of ethnic cleansing. They are seen as a threat to the two-state solution and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
