The Egyptian Ministry of Education and Technical Education focused on prohibiting the wearing of niqab inside schools to ensure the enforcement of the uniform dress code and prevent students' faces from being concealed, in accordance with Ministerial Decision No. 167 of 2023. The ministry clarified that the image showing students wearing the niqab was artificially created using artificial intelligence technology and was not real. They also stated that the niqab post was a mistake made by the person responsible for the school’s Facebook page and has been deleted, with those responsible being referred for investigation. Official directives emphasized that the school uniform must accurately reflect the regulations, and that the ban includes face coverings to enhance security and organization within schools. Additionally, they confirmed the necessity of adhering to the regulations to ensure equality and discipline, as well as to facilitate the identification of students.
