The Chairman of the Sovereignty Council and the Commander of the Sudanese Army, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, rejected calls for him to run for the presidency, reaffirming that he is currently focused on the task of cleaning the country from rebellion, particularly against the Rapid Support Forces, which has been fighting him since April 2023. Al-Burhan emphasized that the army is neutral and does not belong to any organization or political entity. He also criticized the Freedom and Change Alliance, describing it as a "hazy force," noting that this coalition led the protests that overthrew Bashir's regime in 2019 and has now transformed into the "Sudud" (Persistence) Alliance, led by Abdalla Hamdok.
