The school year began in the West Bank amidst field and economic challenges, with approximately 864,000 students enrolled in 2,537 schools operated by the government, UNRWA, or private entities, under the supervision of about 54,000 teachers. Schools face obstacles due to the financial crisis, which has impacted school supplies, delayed the opening of some buildings, and increased pressures on teachers and students as a result of rising living costs and the loss of most families’ jobs since the Gaza War in October 2023. Despite these challenges, the Ministry of Education affirmed its commitment to continuing education and providing a safe learning environment, alongside plans to develop the general secondary education system and to provide transportation for students in areas threatened with demolition, amid ongoing violations and field dangers in the region.
