Kim Jong Un's commissioning of the "Kang Gun" destroyer reflects North Korea's reinforcement of its nuclear defense system. The new destroyer has been introduced into service and will become part of the country’s strategic nuclear deterrent. It has a displacement of 5,000 tons and is the second of its kind after the "Choi Hyon" destroyer, which previously launched strategic cruise missiles. There are plans to build new naval bases and expand naval forces over the next eight months to strengthen the nation's nuclear defensive and aerial capabilities.
