The Alternative for Germany (AfD) party won the Saxony-Anhalt state election, securing 43.8% of the votes, surpassing the conservatives who received 17.2%. Although the party led the results, forming a government remains complicated due to the main parties' refusal to cooperate with it, while a potential alliance with Saret Waggenkest is being considered. The results come amid a decline in the popularity of the German federal government and increasing support for the hardline party, which has a strong presence in eastern Germany and an expanding national reach, backed by international support from right-wing extremists. It is expected that the party's influence in the future parliament will grow.
