The Alternative for Germany party (AfD) won the Saxony-Anhalt state election with over 43% of the votes, marking a significant political shift that impacts Germany domestically as well as the European and global scenes. In response to the results, social media platforms close to the right-wing party, such as Elon Musk and American officials, expressed their support and appreciation for the outcome. Meanwhile, European leaders voiced their concerns and issued statements emphasizing the risks of right-wing escalation and isolation, underscoring the importance of recalling Europe's history and avoiding nationalism and anti-foreigner sentiment. These elections are seen as an indicator of the growing influence of far-right parties across Europe, with clear trends toward nationalism and sovereignty, amidst notable variation in reactions across the continent.
