The Palestinian Authority rejected the decision of the U.S. Department of State not to grant a visa to President Mahmoud Abbas to attend the United Nations General Assembly meetings in New York. This decision has been repeated for the second consecutive year. Palestine expressed its dissatisfaction with this measure, describing it as unjustified, and considered it to be at odds with efforts to restore trust and rebuild relations with the United States. It also complicates the political environment necessary to achieve a two-state solution and establish peace and stability in the region. Conversely, the U.S. Department of State stated that it will continue to extend sanctions that prevent issuing visas to members of the Palestine Liberation Organization and Palestinian Authority officials, due to their failure to implement the required reforms and their ongoing actions that obstruct opportunities for peace.
