The article discusses the upcoming visit of U.S. President Donald Trump to the White House to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping, scheduled for September 24th. The summit will focus on sensitive issues including competition in artificial intelligence, trade, export technology restrictions, as well as disagreements over Iran and Taiwan. Expectations are that discussions will center on managing tensions and maintaining a trade truce between the world's two largest economies, although significant agreements are unlikely. The summit will also address technological concerns such as the rivalry between Beijing and Washington for AI dominance, with the United States imposing restrictions on the export of advanced chips to China and accusing Chinese companies of copying American technologies, while China adopts strict regulatory policies. Despite these tensions, trade relations have remained strong, amounting to approximately $222 billion so far, with a U.S. deficit of $91.2 billion. Both countries are likely to seek extending the trade ceasefire and coordinating investment issues during the visit.
