Resident doctors in Iraq have been protesting in Baghdad and other provinces, demanding higher salaries that do not exceed $305 per month and official permanent employment with the Ministry of Health instead of temporary contracts. They suffer from long working hours exceeding 12 hours, a lack of guarantees for leave, especially maternity leave, and are compelled to work extra shifts to meet their living needs, which affects their mental and physical health. The doctors are calling for clear contracts that specify their employment rights, working hours, and entitlements to achieve stability and improve their working conditions.
