The article discusses the case of ISIS detainees who were transferred from Syria to Iraq, focusing on the legal and security challenges faced by the authorities and the judicial procedures. It explains that this case is highly sensitive and is currently under review by the Counter-Terrorism Agency and the Supreme Judicial Council due to its security importance. The article also highlights the Iraqi authorities' refusal to accept the requests of French lawyers to follow up on their clients' cases, describing their treatment as inhumane and warning of possible death sentences without fair trial standards. It is noted that Iraqi authorities consider these suspects to have committed crimes on Iraqi territory and that Iraqi law, including the Bar Association regulations and jurisdiction laws, prohibit foreign lawyers from representing them for reasons related to national security. Ultimately, the defense team calls on France to make urgent efforts to bring the detainees home to prevent them from facing harsh penalties and to ensure their trial adheres to international justice standards.
