The article concerns the decision by the United States not to issue entry visas to Palestinian authority officials, which prevents President Mahmoud Abbas from attending the United Nations General Assembly meetings for the second consecutive year. The decision is justified by the extension of sanctions due to Palestinian actions to internationalize the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, including prosecutions before international courts. The Palestinian Authority has rejected this decision, describing it as unjustified and emphasizing that it constitutes a violation of the UN headquarters agreement. The Palestinian government asserts that this hampers peace efforts and undermines the two-state solution opportunity, while the United States believes that the Palestinians have not implemented the necessary reforms and have continued legal actions against Israel, threatening the future prospects for peace in the region.
