The article discusses the Palestinian Authority’s rejection of the U.S. State Department’s decision to extend restrictions on issuing entry visas to Palestinian officials, including President Mahmoud Abbas. It notes that the decision conflicts with peace efforts and the pursuit of a two-state solution. The Authority affirmed that both the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) and the Authority are committed to peace and to principles of international legitimacy, rejecting claims that resorting to international institutions threatens peace. It called for a reconsideration of American sanctions and restrictions and urged for direct Palestinian-American dialogue to address outstanding issues. Meanwhile, the U.S. administration attributed the continued visa bans to the Authority’s and the PLO’s failure to fulfill their commitments, indicating that the decision is aimed at political pressure.
