Lebanese-Israeli Talks Focus on Zones and Ceasefire
The article discusses Lebanon's readiness to participate in the eighth round of Lebanese-Israeli negotiations, which are conducted under American auspices and are scheduled to take place in Florida a week before the Israeli Knesset elections. The talks focus on key issues such as establishing a ceasefire, expanding the areas subject to negotiations, and securing the release of Lebanese prisoners held by Israel. The Lebanese delegation also aims to activate the Framework Agreement and reduce Israeli violations of the border area by applying American pressure on Israel to de-escalate tensions and to expand the Lebanese Army’s presence. The article emphasizes the importance of separating the Lebanese dossier from the Iran-U.S. memorandum of understanding, highlighting Lebanon’s rejection of arming non-state actors, and stressing the need to protect sovereignty and stability.
