Ethiopian Embassy in Eritrea Closed
Ethiopia announced the closure of its embassy in Asmara and expelled 10 Eritrean diplomats from Addis Ababa, accusing Eritrea of "hostile and provocative actions" that threaten Ethiopia's national security. The diplomats were given a 48-hour deadline to leave, and Ethiopia called on Eritrea to cease behaviors that undermine the relations between the two countries. This step comes amid escalating clashes in northern Ethiopia between government forces and the Tigray People's Liberation Front, as efforts continue to prevent a new escalation following the peace agreement signed in 2022.
