Oil prices tick up amid diesel shortages
Oil prices rose slightly today after China suspended fuel exports, raising concerns over a worsening global diesel crisis. Brent crude increased to $102.60 per barrel, while West Texas Intermediate rose to $93.14, with expectations of a decline in prices over the week due to market volatility. Reports also indicate that the United States is sending a third aircraft carrier and up to 10,000 troops to the Middle East, in an effort to pressure Europe to withdraw its diesel stockpiles. This comes amid signals of potential resumption of sanctions on Iran and strategic tensions in the region.
