New lawsuit over voting form changes
The lawsuit filed by the Democratic National Committee against the Trump administration concerns a modification made by the Department of Defense to the federal voting form used by Americans residing abroad. Specifically, a section intended for those born overseas or living outside the United States was removed, which hampers the registration and voting rights of these voters who are legally permitted to vote based on family connections. The lawsuit accuses the department of making this change unlawfully and without following proper procedures, and calls for the reinstatement of the previous version of the form. The committee believes that this alteration could restrict the overseas voters' right to vote, especially since approximately 11,500 of them cast ballots in 2016, with expectations of that number increasing.
