UN Reports 5.8M Refugee Kids Out of School
The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees has warned that the refugee children's education crisis is worsening due to declining funding. Approximately 5.8 million refugee children—equivalent to 44% of the total 13.1 million school-age children—remain out of school in 2025. Funding allocated for operations has decreased from $5.2 billion in 2024 to $3.9 billion in 2025, with a need of $8.5 billion for this year. Only $2.7 billion had been provided by July, threatening to deprive millions of children of their right to education and jeopardizing efforts to invest in their future.
