Houthis control key areas in Taiz
Houthi forces have taken control of strategic areas in Taiz Governorate, Yemen, including a main road linking the city to the temporary capital, Aden, as well as the home of Parliament Speaker Sultan al-Barakani, amid the imposition of a complete siege on the city after cutting off the last remaining routes from the south. The group also launched intensive attacks on the Shamaytine District, resulting in the deaths of more than 70 people within 24 hours, including over 20 soldiers. The clashes occurred on multiple fronts with fierce fighting, and Houthi banners were raised in the areas they seized. These developments come amid ongoing military tensions that have escalated since July, following the Houthis' takeover of wide areas along the Red Sea coast. At the same time, the Saudi-led coalition is working to halt their advances and prevent them from consolidating their recent gains.
