British Green Party's Israel controversy
The British Green Party, during its annual conference, adopted an official policy that considers Zionism a form of racism, reflecting a shift in its stance on the Palestinian issue. The decision was voted on by a majority of 1,022 members to 813. The new policy supports the establishment of a single Palestinian state that guarantees equal rights for all, replacing the two-state solution. The resolution was widely condemned by Israel, with President Herzog describing the decision as "a disgrace," and Israeli Foreign Minister imposed a travel ban on party leader Zak Pollance. Supporters, however, emphasized that criticizing Zionism, which they view as a racist ideology, does not equate to anti-Semitism, and that this decision marks a historic turning point in European parties' attitudes towards Palestine.
