Meloni trademarks her voice using AI
The article highlighted Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni's bold step of registering her voice as a trademark, aiming to protect herself from deepfake audio clips generated by artificial intelligence. She submitted a 4-second audio registration featuring the repeated phrase "I am Giorgia Meloni," reflecting an effort to prevent the use of her voice in fake recordings. The move emphasizes that this measure could create legal barriers against those attempting to imitate her voice, although it does not entirely prevent the use of her voice in deepfake technology. Additionally, in 2024, she filed a lawsuit against an individual who posted fake images of her using deepfake techniques, in an effort to safeguard her reputation from deceiving content.
