German intelligence agencies have accused Russia of intensifying a "shadow war" against Germany, which includes espionage, sabotage, and assassinations aimed at hindering the country's influence in Europe. They confirmed that these threats involve limited attacks, such as an attempted assault on a Ukrainian plane in Leipzig, but they are concerned about a possible Russian military escalation, especially in the Baltic states. Germany has responded with firm measures, including the closure of the Russian consulate in Bonn and the strengthening of its military capabilities to counter Russian threats, while continuing to support Ukraine in its war against Russia.
