Bouaidi Named, Yamal Excluded from 2026 Golden Boy
Lamine Yamal has been excluded from the 2026 Golden Boy Award competition because he previously won it in 2024. According to the award's rules, no player who has won before is eligible for nomination again. The leading contender for this year's award is Pau Cubarsi, the star of Barcelona and the young Spanish national team, following his outstanding performance at the 2026 World Cup and his victory as the tournament's best young player. Additionally, his defensive skills and early professionalism with Barcelona set him apart.
