US court schedules Lockerbie bomber trial
The American judiciary has scheduled the trial of a former Libyan intelligence agent for January 2027 on charges of manufacturing the bomb that caused the crash of Pan Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland, in 1988, resulting in the deaths of 270 people. The trial was postponed last August due to the defense's need to review new evidence, and the jury selection will begin on January 19, 2027. The defendant denies both charges related to the destruction of the plane and the death of the victims.
